Performing Arts Options: There are two productions available on Thursday evening--these will require you to pre-purchase your own tickets on the venue websites or they may not be available when you arrive:

SUSANNAH  (7:30 PM)
(PRESENTED BY OPERA PACIFIC AT THE ORANGE COUNTY PERFORMING ARTS CENTER)

Susannah ~ A first for Opera Pacific! An all-American folk opera of raw emotional power, Susannah is set in rural, Depression-era Tennessee.  Based on the Apocryphal story of Susannah and the Elders, it is a poignant story of a girl’s life and dreams shattered by bigotry, zealotry and the abuse of power. The heartland-vibrant sets and costumes recall the muscular Americana of Thomas Hart Benton’s paintings.  Floyd's 1955 opera – filled with music based on folk songs and dances and revival tunes – has become a standard of the operatic repertoire.

Ticket price range: $27 - $275

TAKING STEPS (8:00 PM)
(PRESENTED AT THE SOUTH COAST REPERTORY)

Taking Steps ~ If the night before was any indication, the morning after is going to be a whopper, as men and women, attached and unattached, emerge from bedrooms above, mid-level and below, along a very crowded hallway. In the Victorian house where this farcical lunacy takes place, a sale is about to be completed, depending upon which door opens next and what’s going on behind it.

Playwright: One of the world’s preeminent dramatists, Sir Alan Ayckbourn is a prolific writer of comedy plays satirizing middle-class manners. His major plays include Relatively Speaking, Absurd Person Singular, The Norman Conquests, A Chorus of Disapproval, Woman In Mind, Man of the Moment, Things We Do for Love, Comic Potential and Private Fears in Public Places.

Recommendation: Mature audiences (teens and up), as some characters emerge from the bedrooms scantily clad, and smoking and drinking are also depicted.

Ticket price range: $14 - $48

Transportation:  Transportation will be provided at no cost, and is on a first-come, first-served basis (each shuttle holds 15 people), so sign up early at the registration desk!

Four departures from the hotel (6:30 PM, 7:00 PM, 7:30 PM, 8:00 PM)

Four returns from the Spectrum (8:30 PM, 9:00 PM, 9:45 PM and 10:45 PM*)
