Three: Chicago City Tour with Optional Lake Michigan and Chicago River Cruise
Friday, May 21, 2010 8:15 AM - TBD (varies)
Sign up for one or both tours on the conference website...
Join us as we experience a wonderful full-day hop on hop-off trolley tour of Chicago's
major attractions! Voted Chicago's Best Tour, this HOP ON HOP OFF Tour has been the
gold standard for an entertaining & informative tour as well as low-cost
transportation to shopping, dining & attractions. You can't possibly do
everything on this tour in one day, so you will have the option to upgrade to a multi-day
ticket during the day. However, we will develop an itinerary for those who prefer to
stay with the group. The trolley tour stops run from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM (List of
stops below).
Please note that some attractions are not free, so you may want to consider purchasing a
Chicago City Pass if you will be staying for the weekend and have time to visit multiple
attractions. See what that pass includes
here
(note that the trolley does not stop at Museum of Science and Industry
& OMNIMAX, but you can get there by car, taxi, bus or rail on a different day.
The Chicago pass is good for nine days and is a great deal for those extending their
stays. You do not have to decide this in advance, as you can purchase it at any of
the included attractions (Shedd Aquarium VIP, The Field Museum & Underground
Adventure, Adler Planetarium, Museum of Science and Industry & OMNIMAX AND either John
Hancock Observatory FastPass OR Skydeck Chicago Fast Pass)
After the trolley tour, you have several options (Option Cruise listed here):
- You can end your tour at Union Station and return to the conference hotel for
dinner on your own.
- We can have dinner at one of Chicago's many restaurants. A map will be
provided so you can make your own choice, but a group dining option (likely on the Navy
Pier) will also be selected, if you want to continue your tour with the group.
- There are many sunset and evening lake and river cruise options to choose from
(see www.chicagotraveler.com/boat_tours.htm),
but it would be most economical and optimal to book one of the best as a group with Wendella Cruises www.wendellaboats.com/. However, these
frequently sell out that time of year, so we must book early to ensure
availability. If at least 20 people sign up for a tour by April 15th, we will book our own lake or river tour.
